-
What is the approximate price I should expect to pay for a memorial headstone? We sell a wide range of memorials starting from £370 including VAT.
-
How long after the burial of a loved one is the monument erected? We would recommend at least a six month period after the burial as this allows time for the ground to settle. This is not necessary in the case of interment of ashes when a cremation tablet or vase is requested.
-
Are there regulations with regards to monuments permissible in a cemetery? If the monument is to be erected in a public cemetery the local council have an outline of regulations to be adhered to - we will be able to advise you on the regulations applicable to your personal requirements.
-
Are there regulations with regards to monuments permissible in churchyards? If the monument is to be placed in a churchyard some general rules do apply: e.g. No kerbing is permitted, and no book designs. Marble and polished granite are also not permitted. We do offer a wide range of monuments which are specifically designed with churchyard regulations in mind. Slate, natural stones and honed granite are acceptable and we would be able to advise you for your personal requirements. Please see the Diocese of Lincoln Regulations 2008 here.
-
Which stone should be chosen for the memorial? All the designs on the website are made from a variety of materials. The location of the grave site may be a factor to consider when choosing the memorial, and our experienced staff will be able to advise you of the best options for your requirement. Some stones are easier to maintain, and you might wish to consider how much time you will be able to devote to looking after the memorial. A polished granite memorial can be easily cleaned. Letters carved in granite will retain their sharpness for many years. Our monuments are all lettered and hand finished in our own workshops, making the monument a unique individually fitting tribute to your loved one.
-
What about cemetery and churchyard fees?An application for the proposed memorial is presented to the relevant council for approval. The council will inform us in writing when the application has been successful. The council also inform us of the relevant fees applicable for the permit required to erect a permanent memorial on the plot the fee can vary in public cemeteries we will be able to advise you of these accordingly. Any Churchyard fees applicable are a standard fee for the whole of Lincolnshire and are increased on a yearly basis by the diocese.

"From the moment we walked through the doors in Boston we were met with kindness and consideration. Mel was very thorough in explaining what was required and both myself and my mother left feeling that we had made the right choice in using William Kent Memorials. Timelines on the headstone being installed were smashed which in itself made our family very happy. Quality of workmanship was excellent. Highly recommend."
